Roman Pop Art Apartment by Labics

Respecting its historical identity whilst incorporating a contemporary aesthetic, Italian studio Labics was employed by a private pop art collector to restore his/her Rome apartment. The extensive project was based on reinforcing the home’s existing structure and monumental character with the additional of a new layer capable of supporting typical residential activities. Contrasting its white walls and shelving units with the brown at its ceiling and floor, its living room further reveals the juxtapose of old and new. This is achieved by the the row of massive colums seen along a window opening that offers additional views of the surrounding ancient buildings. As an added note, the sculpture appearing on one of its restored ancient walls is a rendering of Batman by artist Andrian Tranquilli.
