2019 Audi A4
Pasquale Karatzetzo - Gentlemans Diary Magazine - Audi Car Review

The updated Audi A4 range is due to go on sale soon, and pricing has appeared on some company car lists.

Although it hasn't been officially announced by the brand, an industry source confirmed to Autocar that the 2019 A4 will start from £30,725 in base Technik form with the 35 TFSI petrol engine. The 188bhp diesel is automatic-only and priced from £34,480.

Those figures represent an increase of around £1500 over the previous entry-level SE spec. However, technology and kit upgrades will help justify the list price increase, as will competitive leasing costs.

The non-RS range flagship at launch will be the newly diesel-powered S4. That's priced at £47,295 in standard trim, with higher-spec Black Edition and Vorsprung models also available.

In an attempt to keep pace with rivals such as the new BMW 3 Series, the compact executive saloon has received an exterior and interior revamp to bring it in line with Audi’s current design themes. The firm says the changes are more substantial than is usual for a facelift, and include a range of hybridised engines.

OUR VERDICT

Audi A4

The Audi A4 zeroes in on efficiency, technology and quality - but is it enough to drive compact saloon buyers away from the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class?

Driven this week

The revised A4 will be available with three 2.0-litre turbo petrol engines featuring a 12-volt mild hybrid system and ranging from 148bhp to 241bhp, along with two diesels: a 188bhp 2.0-litre and a 241bhp 3.0-litre. A 12-volt mild hybrid 2.0-litre diesel unit, with 134bhp or 161bhp, will follow after the launch.

The S4, a rival to the Mercedes-AMG C43, will be offered in Europe purely as a mild-hybrid diesel, with a 3.0-litre engine mated to a 48-volt integrated starter/motor for a total output of 342bhp and 516lb ft of torque.

The S4 will be offered with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive, with sport suspension as standard and a sport differential and suspension with damper control available as options.

The entry-level 35 TFI and 40 TDI will be offered after launch with a manual gearbox as standard. All other models will be automatic as standard. Seven and eight-speed ’boxes will be used, with a six-speed manual following as an option. Entry-level A4s will be front-wheel drive, with Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system available on higher-spec models.

Audi Takes the Top off of the R8

If you could never afford or ultimately missed out on the now defunct Lamborghini Gallardo, Audi’s R8 has long been your next best option. Designed and manufactured exclusively at Audi’s high-performance Quattro GmbH subsidiary, the Gallardo-based R8 (it uses the Lambo’s platform) has been the hallmark of Audi’s patented Quattro all-wheel drive system since its 2006 debut — and nothing has changed in the decade since. Now the German automaker is back with its latest version of the vehicle, following up last year’s rendition with its latest R8 Spyder V10.

Coupling a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 with a seven-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission, the car still boasts 540 horsepower and acceleration from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds (before hitting a top speed of 197 mph), but ditches the original hardtop in favor of a new fabric roof. Retractable at speeds of up to 31 mph, the roof can open or close in just 20 seconds — meaning this is the perfect R8 for the warmer months ahead.

The 2017 Audi R8 Spyder V10 will hit dealers later this year. In the meantime, head on over to Autoblog to check out Audi’s full press release for the vehicle.

2015 Audi R8

Ahead of the official public reveal set to take place next week in Geneva, Audi has released official images and specs for the overhauled R8. Under the hood the car features a V10 5.2-liter FSI naturally aspirated engine, in both 540 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque for the base model and 610 horsepower with 413 lb-ft for the V10 Plus model. Inside the cabin, drivers will find a new, streamlined design housed inside 12.3-inch virtual cockpit. Nappa leather upholsteries, clear coated carbon fiber accents, and a 500-watt Bang & Olufsen sound system are just a few of the luxurious upgrades available. This second generation Audi R8 will be on sale this summer with introductory pricing set around $186,000 USD for the standard model and from $212,000 USD for the R8 V10 Plus.

AUDI Q7 2015

AUDI has presented the new Q7 ahead of the 2015 north american international auto show in detroit. The latest addition to the AUDI family is over 700 pounds lighter than its predecessor thanks to carbon fiber components, and is also offered as an e-tron quattro; the world’s first plug-in hybrid with a six-cylinder diesel engine and quattro all-wheel drive. Although the exterior dimensions have become significantly smaller, the SUV offers substantially more interior room for passengers and more power under the hood. The audi Q7 is powered by a 333 horsepower 3.0 liter turbocharged TFSI engine that can accelerate it from 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 6.1 seconds, and the Q7 e-tron quattro, which will be launched mid-2015, boasts a system output of 373 hp and 516.3 lb-ft of torque. The plug-in diesel will consume just 1.7 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers (138.4 mpg), and will go as far as 56 kilometers in all-electric mode with a fully charged battery.

Audi RS7 2015 Sportback

Following a sneak peek into its 2015 A7 and S7 models, Audi unveils the all-new high-performance RS7 Sportback. Under the hood however, this model boasts a twin-turbo V8 4.0 liter TFSI engine that can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.9 seconds before topping out at 190 mph (305 km/h). Audi TT Offroad Concept

Audi‘s TT model has been central to the brand’s primary mid-range sports-car offerings for the past decade and a half. Now, for the Beijing Motor Show, the German automotive powerhouse has flipped the TT into a new offroad concept, featuring a hybrid engine that puts out 408 horsepower. A more and more common occurrence for all-wheel drive hybrids, the concept TT splits the propulsion between a front-located 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder combined with a 40-kilowatt electric motor, and for the rear axle an 85-kilowatt electric motor. The contours of the cabin resemble Audi’s Q3 model, yet the offroad TT possesses a lower profile with larger 21-inch wheels and a redesigned bumper. While the concept shows a road-ready exterior that might look out of place amongst other more experimental concepts, Audi has no plans to put this new ideation into production, but these new images do hint at how a more rugged TT model could be introduced.

With all that said, this model should reach 60 mph in a swift 3.7 seconds, just a tad faster than the standard RS7. After all of its additions, the Audi RS7 Dynamic Edition will hit showrooms this summer with a price tag of $146,045 USD, about $41,000 USD more than the RS7 model.
