50 Years of James Bond: Designing Bond’s Look

There’s no denying that James Bond is one of the most iconic and debonair literary and motion picture characters of all time. In celebration of 50 years since Ian Fleming first created the smooth-talking 007, The Barbican presents a unique video and exhibition that explores various facets of the character’s creation – including time with award-winning set designers, Aston Martin’s head of design and creators of the legendary golden gun. On display too will be lavish screen finery by Hollywood costume designers and major fashion names including Giorgio Armani, Brioni, Roberto Cavalli, Tom Ford, Hubert de Givenchy, Douglas Hayward, Rifat Ozbek, Jenny Packham, Miuccia Prada, Oscar de la Renta, Anthony Sinclair, Philip Treacy, Emanuel Ungaro and Donatella Versace. Turning “shaken, not stirred” into a proclamation instead of a request, James Bond’s impact on various aspects of popular culture is enormous.
