2014 Porsche Panamera

Originally unveiled in 2009 at Auto Shanghai, the Porsche Panamera was hailed by enthusiasts as the four-door sedan marked the long-awaited production update to 1989′s Porsche 989 concept vehicle. Now, the German auto manufacturer has unveiled the 2014 edition of the automobile. Replacing the old 4.8 liter V8 engine with a biturbo 3.0 liter V6 under the hood, the car’s smaller engine actually produces more power than the previous design, creating 420 hp alongside 384 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, the upcoming model year marks the debut of the Panamera S E-Hybrid edition – an improvement over the previous hybrid that now boasts a more powerful electric motor and ithium-ion battery for an improvement in gas mileage from 33 mpg to 76 mpg. Billed as the first luxury plug-in hybrid, the Panamera S E-Hybrid is also faster than the previous electric and can go from 0-62 mph in 5.5 seconds with an all-electric top speed of 84 mph. Finally, cosmetic upgrades to the design include everything from a larger rear spoiler and more angled rear window to LED lamps and a multifunction steering wheel. Look for the Panamera to be available across the globe later this year.
