SunnyHills by Kengo Kuma & Associates

The idea of hospitality is integral to Japanese business. Developing on this idea, famed architect Kengo Kuma teamed up with a Taiwanese pineapple farmer to create his latest building: SunnyHills. The wooden lattices form a kind of exoskeleton around the building, intentionally pushing the viewer to wander inside. Meanwhile, the interior echoes the exterior, with a man at front inviting visitors inside to enjoy a cup of tea and a piece of pineapple pie. Others can purchase baked goods in a flowing atmosphere – created spacious to encourage calmness. Accordingly, SunnyHills aims not only to reconsider open space, but business culture as well.
