Ford has just unveiled its most powerful Mustang to date at this year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The 2020 Ford Shelby GT500 receives a supercharged 5.2-litre V8 motor that is matched with Ford’s newly-developed dual-clutch, seven-speed transmission — equating to 700 horsepower, all the while allowing the Shelby GT500 to sprint quarter-miles in just under 11 seconds.

Sporting the Shelby Cobra badge, the GT500 comes in various trims including a “Track Pack” which sees a number of carbon bits, Recaro seats, massive Brembo six-piston calipers, and even the removal of the rear seats for weight reduction. This is definitely going to please the American muscle crowd, as not only does the 2020 Ford Shelby GT500 get a massive boost in power, but its also receives refined interior/exterior styling, combined with quality components.

Look for more information on availability and pricing this coming fall. In other automotive news, the 2020 Toyota Supra has finally arrived.

The 1967 Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake Is Making a Return

In the 1960s, Shelby constructed a demonstration Mustang for Goodyear – the Shelby GT500 Super Snake. The car was powered by a lightweight 427-cubic-inch race engine taken from a Le Mans-winning Ford GT40. As a result, it is said to have produced 520 horsepower, which was a stat for its time.

In 2013, Shelby dealer Don McCain purchased the sole 1960s Shelby car for $1.3 million USD and now, Shelby will build 10 more cars for collectors. The GT500 Super Snake will be powered by a 427 V-8 550 hp engine. Both aluminum and cast-iron blocks will be available for the buyer to choose from. The car will be backed by a four-speed manual transmission and will have the famous triple stripes and disc brakes much like the original.

In addition, purchasers will also get original signature by Carroll Shelby and Don McCain. While both have already passed away, McCain promoted the idea of the Super Snake program to Shelby and they both signed ten dash plaques for the cars. Each car will be priced at $249,995 USD.

Ford Updates the Mustang for 2019
2019-ford-mustang-1.jpg

American automotive giant Ford is set to release a string of new options for its iconic Mustang model. None of the new updates drastically rework the classic car, with a range of new appearance packages and functional elements all available for 2019.

Some of the key upgrades include another version of the California Special appearance package with a fading side stripe across the middle of the door, stick-on fake scoops, a custom black grille and a black and red “California Special” badge. Other new features of the reworked Mustangs include a rev-matching function to smooth downshifts, an active exhaust with changeable volume and a 1,000 watt 12-speaker B&O Play soundsystem.

All of these new features can be paired with an expanded selection of exterior colorways, including the brand new “Velocity Blue” and “Need for Green.” As it stands, a pricing structure for the new Ford Mustang packages is yet to be released, but the first cars will be available this summer.

New Ford Explorer Appearance Pack 2015

Remember when Ford launched the totally new Explorer in late 2010, and people were skeptical about how the now-crossover would fare, after ditching its traditional SUV roots? Well, we're several years in, and I think we can assuredly say that Ford made the right decision. Sales are better than ever (in fact, May was the current Explorer's best month yet), and the crossover is finding its way into the hands of a whole host of new Ford buyers. A wholly refreshed Explorer is still forthcoming, but to keep its strong-selling crossover fresh, Ford is offering a host of improvements for the 2015 model year, including the attractive appearance package available on the XLT trim level, pictured above. Outside, the pack gets you goodies like 20-inch machined aluminum wheels, black bodyside cladding and roof rack rails. Contrasting Magnetic Metallic accents are found on the grille, mirror caps and liftgate appliqué, and there's an "Explorer" hood badge and body-colored door handles. Inside, there are new Miko suede inserts in the seats, and the package includes the automaker's Sync connectivity with MyFord Touch infotainment. Elsewhere in the Explorer range, the Class III trailer tow pack is now standard on the Sport, base models get new 18-inch aluminum wheels, and there are three new colors on offer: Bronze Fire Metallic and Magnetic Metallic. 2015 Explorer pricing starts at $30,600 for the base model, going as high as $42,670 for the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6-equipped Sport. The appearance package adds $1,195 to the price of the $32,900 XLT, assuming you've also chosen the $2,500 Equipment Group 202A. All MSRPs listed do not include $895 for destination.

Ford GT40 Roadster 1965

Think of mid-engined supercars and your mind is bound to gravitate towards Europe, but the United States has been known to make a handful from time to time – exceptional vehicles from the likes of Vector, SSC, Mosler, Hennessey, and Saleen. But long before any of those came around, Ford famously became obsessed with beating Ferrari at its own game, leading to the development of the iconic GT40. The story is well known, sending Ford to the checkered flag at Le Mans four times in a row in the late 1960s. Ford and Shelby also built over 100 for public consumption, but just four of them were roadsters. Of those only one remains in original condition, and now that exceedingly rare example going up for auction. Consigned to RM Auctions for its mid-August sale during Pebble Beach weekend in Monterey, California, this 1965 model is the first GT40 Roadster built. It was used as a development and demonstration vehicle for Ford and Shelby. Carroll Shelby himself drove Henry Ford II in this very car during one of many test and demo events, this time held for Ford's board of directors in Los Angeles.

Ford Mustang 50th Anniversary 2015 Edition

It’s hard to believe, but 50 years ago this week, Ford debuted the first-ever Mustang to attendees at the 1964 New York World’s Fair in Queens. To commemorate this monumental anniversary, Ford unveils a special edition 2015 Mustang which will make its official debut at this week’s New York Auto Show. Based on the 2015 Mustang GT with a Performance Pack upgrade, each model is powered by Ford’s 5.0-liter, naturally aspirated V8 engine that is estimated to produce more than 420 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. Inside its cabin, the 50th Anniversary Edition sports a cashmere-stitched, leather-wrapped steering wheel, with a similar detail seen on its instrument panel, shift boot, door inserts, seats and center armrest. Prospective buyers will have their choice of either a six-speed automatic or manual transmission and just two color options – Kona Blue and Wimbledon White. Furthermore, to coincide with the Stang’s first year of production, Ford will only produce a total of 1,964 anniversary models.
