Summer has arrived and I couldn’t be more excited to welcome the season of BBQs, beer gardens and trips to the seaside! I really love summer and below you will find the 10 reasons why summer is my favorite season of the year!

1. Ice Cream. The perfect date? Strolling along the sea front, with great company and a delicious gelato!

2. Late nights. There’s something about getting home from work when it’s still light that gives you bundles of energy! Dinner with friends, strolls in the park, there's so much to do when the evenings are longer.

3. The best foods are in season. Strawberries, cherries, grapes and watermelon, beautifully ripe like they only are in summer. Perfect for a fruit salad on a sunny day.

4. Al-fresco dining. We love a good picnic, and what better way to enjoy the sun than with tasty food outside?

5. The weather! There’s nothing like a sunny day to give you those happy feelings! Trips to the seaside are a must when the sun is shining.

6. Festivals. The season of fun has arrived! There’s a festival to suit everyone, so why not have a look at what’s out there? The smaller, quainter festivals are often the best…

7. Adventures. The warmer weather makes outdoor adventures much more fun! Bike rides, country walks – what are your favourites?

8. Barbeques. As soon as the sun comes out, so does the BBQ! Friends, family, sunshine and food, what could be more perfect? Leaving the winter coat, hat and scarf in the wardrobe and replacing them with sunnies, shorts and flip-flops!

10. Nature. And last but not least, nature! We get to see the flowers, butterflies, and beautifully coloured birds in all their glory.

Linen suits in earthy, pale colors are a great idea for summer weddings and other dressed-up, outdoor affairs. They’re cool, comfortable, and gentlemanly. You just need to be careful of one thing: looking like a literal sack of potatoes. Linen is a fabric that will rumple and stretch out the second you call your Uber, so the cut and fit of the suit is everything. I chose mine from Antony Morato and I paired it with a black T-shirt and a pair of camel boats.

Although it’s routinely placed at the top of lifestyle rankings, Zurich is rarely, if ever, rated as one of Europe’s cultural capitals. There’s a perception that it’s a bankers’ city – a Swiss Square Mile without any West End to escape into. While it is true that high salaries and a strong currency mean Switzerland’s biggest city is expensive for visitors, with some planning, and a focus on culture instead of cuisine, it makes for an enjoyable break, whether or not it is made part of a skiing holiday.

The city boasts cultural big-hitters including the Kunsthaus, one of Europe’s great modern art museums, and Museum Haus Konstruktiv, which showcases “concrete, constructive and conceptual art” in a former electricity substation. Zurich-West, a former industrial district, is a hub for contemporary art, design, food and architecture. The whole city is relatively car-free and bike-friendly.

Fashion is a big thing as well! In every little corner of the city you cans pot stylish and posh people walking silently around. Luxury fashion is huge there and people take risks regarding their style.

I found myself in Zurich and I wanted to explore the city but I needed a cute outfit in order to fit with the crowd. So I chose a Tom Tailor pair of trousers and a very cool and rich khaki color Religion Shirt. I paired them with my new Balenciaga sock boots,

Spetses is both cursed and blessed by its assets; being too pretty and too accessible have made it too popular. The last of the Argo-Saronic islands that include Aigina, Poros and Hydra off the northeast coast of the Peloponnesos, Spetses was so green in antiquity that it was called Pityoussa – covered with pines. Cruel winds rarely buffet it, yet every midday in summer a delicious breeze springs up to cool it. Although it has to import water, bougainvillea, hibiscus, plumbago, jasmine and trumpet vines thrive in the mild climate, spangling white walls with pink, mauve, red, baby blue and orange petals. Handsome mansions dominate the seafront between the Old Harbor (Paliolimani) and ∏-shaped Dapia, where sea taxis and kaikis huddle under cannons left from the War of Independence. Adjoining the modern jetty, where the hydrofoils dock, stands an ochre elephant of a hotel – the grand Posidonion Hotel, where Athenian gentry holidayed a century ago.

Spetses is easy to get to know, superficially at least. Its only town, with about 5,000 permanent residents, stretches along the north coast from the Old Harbor, considered the classiest district, to Dapia, the port, and west to Kounoupitsa, with its more modest houses. It doesn’t take much more than half an hour to walk from one end to the other, but nobody would be caught dead using their feet in Spetses. The locals, young and ancient, male and female, are latter-day centaurs, almost welded to their motorbikes. Sometimes whole families of four or five squeeze onto one, while I’ve seen the most improbable things being carried. Most memorable was the guy wearing a canoe on his head, driving with one hand, holding it with the other, barely able to see as he bounced along a patch of stony road.

A visit to Spetses begins as you step off the hydrofoil at Dapia, which means “fortified place” in Turkish or Albanian, depending on who tells you. Today, it’s the center of Spetses life, where you go to buy the newspaper (foreign or Greek), do some shopping (for essentials or extravagances) and, most of all, just hang out. The cafés behind the cannon are filled day and night with non-locals nursing frappes or scoffing excellent sweets, while old timers and Spetsiotis patronize Stambolis on the upper left side. Below it are a small Alpha Bank branch, the Flying Dolphin ticket office, a well-stocked periptero (kiosk) and a gleaming new café – so new I’ve never sat there, but it looks pricey.

But what about swimming? Spetses has the kind of beaches I like: more little coves hemmed by rocks than great expanses of fine sand. Snorkeling can be psychedelic thanks to the entrancing pink and mauve patterns on the walls of small caves, while at Agii Anargyri, the island’s biggest beach, you can swim into a large cave where women and children allegedly hid during at least one Ottoman raid. The story goes that their wily menfolk placed fezzes on the asphodels that grow by the hundreds near the lighthouse and frightened the enemy away.

Dapia is the island’s transportation hub. Sea taxis and kaikis bob below the cafés. Besides taking you singly or in a group to the beaches round the island, they’ll also carry you to beaches across the straits on the Peloponnesos, starting with Kosta, which is served by an unglamorous ferry as well. Be warned: the sea taxis are expensive – 20 euros to or from Kosta – while the ferry has got to be the cheapest fare in Greece at 80 lepta (cents)! Kosta, a few miles east of Porto Heli, has a decent beach, but we drive from Athens and park the car there – cars are prohibited on Spetses from Easter to the end of October. And so do a lot of regular visitors and islanders, who balk at paying the 35 euros for a one way ticket on the hydrofoil from Piraeus. Sadly, the more economical boat that took five hours was discontinued a couple of summers ago and there are no plans to reinstate it.

Packing for summer vacation is a more difficult endeavor than it seems at the first glance. It would be much easier to wear nothing but your favorite shorts, a pair of flip flops and a cotton t-shirt, but if you want to travel as an adult man instead as a decayed college student in a drinking adventure, you will need much more than that. Being fashionable is not just a “girls’ thing”, it is something that men should strive for, no matter if they are going to an opera night or a walk in the park. This year’s vacation is the perfect opportunity to finally get a grasp of this fashion thing and gear up with all the right pieces.

Begin with picking up this season ultimate item and it is nothing else than the white jeans! It is the easiest item to style it and very difficult you can go wrong with it. To be safe I chose a classic pair of suede boots and a suede brown tshirt that gave me this extra stylish thing that I wanted to achieve! Do not forget to pack a nice black pair of sunglasses as well that goes with everything!

You may have noticed that a few leather jackets have been appearing on my blog recently, and lets just say I’m a little bit obsessed with them at the minute. It doesn’t matter what season it is or what the temperature is, you can always throw a leather jacket over the top of any outfit. During early Spring it’s all about layering and a leather jacket is that perfect piece to layer on colder days when we’re not quite ready for t-shirt weather. Of course there’s the added fact that they make you look grungy and badass, but in general they are quite an easy item to style.

So, here’s a casual, weekend-proof outfit featuring my favourite leather jacket.

I love them because they’re stretchy enough to be comfy and the rips at the knee add to the grungy vibes. I’m finishing off the casual look with some new black ankle boots from Calvin Klein.

It is actually not surprising that most men have no idea how to dress – it is a classic case of the blind leading the blind. Most guys will copy what their friends are wearing, happy to fit in and not attract any unnecessary attention. Some go one step further, emulating looks on billboards or in men’s lifestyle magazines. Others try to show off with luxury brands. A few give up entirely.

It’s not hard to dress well. It certainly requires far less money than most assume. However, it requires some patience and a willingness to try something new. Just as with any major undertaking, the first step involves a change of mindset.

You have to convince yourself that it’s good to dress well. This is very important. Become comfortable with the idea of permanently changing how you look. Give yourself the permission to reap the rewards.

For MIA Design Studio, one of the key requirements was to connect the different zones of the large Louvers House in order to reflect the needs of a modern Vietnamese family. At one end of the house is the bedrooms and living area, while the other end features a spa and gym. To link the different zones, the architecture firm built the space around a shared courtyard that also brings light and air into the middle of the house.

Other key features of the house include its first floor living area, which was moved up from the ground floor in order to give the best views across the park lying in front of the house. The Louvers House’s location is also an influence on the design of the large canopy, which is needed to keep the house cool from the tropical Vietnamese sun.

Nestled along a rolling green pasture patch overlooking the scenic grandeur of Werri Beach, New South Wales is a concept home created by Atelier Andy Carson. The Headland House, which sits sandwiched between arching cliffs on one side and picturesque blue water on the other, is an imposing structure linking three separate pavilions within the confines of a protected courtyard.

Tasked with creating an alternate viewing experience for its homeowners, the architecture firm thought to incorporate framed glimpses of the exterior landscape, as opposed to typical dwelling arrangements that provide the same view from standard wall-to-wall windows. The interior space plays into the structure’s unique layout, further enhancing the thematic flow of each area. Color schemes keep to the subtle side, with varying shades of brown and grey echoing not only through raw materials, but furniture and accessories to boot.

A two-bedroom guesthouse caps of the project — providing out-of-town guests a cozy set up to relax and take in the majestic beauty of their immediate surroundings.

After a few teasers, Maserati recently unveiled the Levante Trofeo, which will debut at this week’s New York Auto Show.

Looking to combat Porsche‘s Cayenne Turbo, the Levante Trofeo features a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine built by Ferrari which cranks out 538 lb-ft of torque and 590 horsepower. The powerful engine enables the road monster to go from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and reach speeds in excess of 300 km/h.

To match the monstrous engine is an aggressive exterior led by Full Matrix LED headlights, vertical grid grill, honeycomb mesh air intakes, ventilated hood and carbon fiber accents. While the four-tailpipe sports exhaust system and a body-color diffuser continue the aggressive look found at the front of the car.

The luxury sports aesthetic continues in the interior of the car with sculpted sports seats, matte carbon fiber trim and a unique instrument cluster with V8 badging. Set to enter production this summer, Maserati’s Levante Trofeo is set to receive an exclusive North American launch edition sometime next year.

After months of faults and delays with the production of Tesla‘s Model 3 car — reportedly due to using flawed parts — Elon Musk has now taken over control of the division in charge. Musk originally estimated that Tesla would be making 20,000 of the cars per month by December, however that was later downgraded 2,500 cars per week by the end of March. This revised target was also missed, with the real figure ending up closer to 2,000 per week.

Initial reports had claimed that Musk has taken over the duty from Doug Field, Tesla’s Senior Vice President of Engineering, although Musk said this wasn’t true. On Twitter, the entrepreneur explained that his “job as CEO is to focus on what’s most critical, which is currently Model 3 production. Doug, who I regard as one of the world’s most talented engineering execs, is focused on vehicle engineering.” Musk also went on to reveal that the move meant he was “back to sleeping at factory. Car biz is hell…”

So my lovely readers, if reading this made you realize how much you love Sundays join the club! And if you’re reading this and it seems like a foreign language…I’m sorry to tell you, you’re totally doing Sundays wrong.

If you had any lingering doubt that 1990s street culture was back, the rise of skatewear into mainstream fashion should put the matter to rest. Because suddenly it’s everywhere. The skateboarders who Anna Wintour would have once ushered away from the steps of the Palais de Tokyo have been invited inside to model what hangs in their own wardrobes, albeit reimagined at 10 times the price.

Skate has always had a hard-bitten aesthetic, equal parts protective and anti-authoritarian. Thick twill trousers are robust enough to prevent concrete shredding too much skin, while a hoodie shields the face from cameras when skating where you shouldn’t. And though practicality remains a long way down most designers’ lists of concerns, it is as obsessed with the underground as ever. What it means for you and me is that some of the most comfortable and hard-wearing threads you can buy also happen to be the most fashionable. What it doesn’t mean is that Tony Hawk is the new Don Draper. 

The Rise Of Skatewear

Before we get to the rules, it’s worth stating that while brands have adopted skatewear in part as a way to lend bank balance-draining clothes some much-needed authenticity, the look’s surge is not entirely cynical. In the late 1980s, the boom in VCRs turned a niche sport into a global movement, as kids were suddenly able to share tapes of their favourite skaters.

Those kids have long since hung up their decks. But they are now at the age when increased spending power and nostalgia meet. They work in places where a suit seems out of place and they want clothes that are stylish but comfortable. They want trousers with a little more room, shirts with a softer handle, even if they’re being tested in a co-working space rather than on a flat bank.

They also share taste with the new heads of many design houses. Gosha Rubchinskiy, for example, centres his shows around the crew he sessions Moscow’s streets with. Meanwhile, Vetements and Balenciaga boss Demna Gvasalia and streetwear obsessive Kim Jones at Louis Vuitton have both spearheaded collaboration with skate OGs Supreme. These men – and they are almost universally men – are channelling their own and their customers’ love of skate culture into garments that reimagine and upgrade what kids have always worn on their boards. 

All of which makes the ‘skater look’ an odd thing: at once a blatant cash-in and a genuine expression of a subculture that has influenced streetwear since the 1960s. It also means that any man can steal the look. Even if you can only heelflip in a video game.

Hoodies

If you can’t (or at least don’t) skate, then co-opting the full Palace look smacks of desperation. “Wear the pieces that are a natural fit for you,” says Giles Farnham, head of River Island’s Style Studio. Hoodies are a skate staple, and this cultural cache means they can be used to nod to the aesthetic even if you don’t know your Eric Koston from your Eric Clapton.

Skate Shoes

The grip tape that forms a buffer between foot and board is like sandpaper. Its endless rubbing and scuffing means skaters value shoes that are affordable and hardwearing, since they’re only going to get battered anyway.

Logo T-shirts

True streetwear is simple. Because it was cheap, brands tended not to experiment too far outside staples: hoodies, sweatshirts, caps and T-shirts. Distinctiveness came not from the cut, but from branding, which meant oversized logos and knowing spins on more established iconography.

Located on the edge of a forest 60km from Saint Petersburg, this house from architecture firm AB CHVOYA was created to blend into its environment. As well as the woodland location, the space is shaped by the plot’s slope and other realities of the area’s geography.

Designed for two artists, the building features both a studio space and a residential area consisting of a kitching-living-dining space, three bedrooms and a yoga area. The two zones of the house are linked together with a transit porch. The exterior of the house is clad in carbonized wood, that hides the structure in the forest.
