The 1964 Porsche 356 Cabriolet Emory Outlaw Oozes Old World Class

Few vintage cars inspire as much fanaticism as the Porsche 356, but the Emory Outlaw custom build of the 356 Cabriolet ups that one more notch. Father-and-son duo Gary and Rod Emory have experienced a newfound wave of appreciation for their builds in recent years, with the Outlaw being the pinnacle of their work. Featuring a 2.4-liter flat-four engine capable of 185 hp and 172 pound-feet of torque, the Outlaw is outfitted with a four-speed transmission while the interior is bedecked with a Nardi steering wheel and luxurious red leather upholstery. A pretty car costs a pretty penny — the silver Outlaw commands $250,000 USD, while a sleek black version costs $100,000 USD more.

The Good Italian II - The Prince goes to Milan - starring Giancarlo Giannini

The beautifully cinematic and playful Part I of Caruso’s fashion film, The Good Italian, reminded us of classic Italian sensibilities and the charming temperament of a fine gentleman. Reprising his role as the Prince of Soragna, which happens to be the home of the Italian suitmaker, is Giancarlo Giannini (Casino Royale). As the short piece seamlessly crafts a narrative that embodies the beauty and traditions of Italy, viewers are swept up on a culinary journey that continues on from the whimsical stylings of the first installment. As the prince visits the city of Milan, he travels in an exquisite Lancia Aurelia B24 and makes a final stop at the Four Seasons Hotel. There, he fraternizes with the chefs in the Michelin-starred hotel kitchen as they prepare the perfect dinner. Set against the infinitely beautiful backdrop of Italy, Giancarlo’s title character is a vision of refinement and sophistication that reflects the ethos of the label. The Art Of Menswear Making By Caruso

Caruso is an Italian menswear manufacturer which emblematises the traditions and principles of quality, handmade tailoring. Originally established by Raffaele Caruso, upon his move from Naples to Soragna in 1958, the small, family run tailoring shop came to exist in several different incarnations across the decades, eventually growing to become one of Europe’s biggest and most advanced menswear producers by the early 2000s.

Having come under the guidance of fashion world entrepreneur Umberto Angeloni, Caruso took the form it takes today, and has continued to go from strength to strength. It achieves this because of its unwavering commitment to fabrics and construction methods of the highest calibre: the principles which have garnered Caruso its fine reputation since the beginning.

Crucially, Caruso takes the utmost pride in the fact that all of its garments are handmade in Italy, a narrative which they claim is one part romantic, one part technical. The idea that a piece is made in Italy undoubtedly conjures evocative imagery, and perhaps even makes something all the more covetable. But the technical part of the narrative ensures that this extra desirability is not for any shallow reasons, but rather because Caruso always produces superior garments.

GDM team had the opportunity to visit Caruso headquarters in Soragna Italy and to see up-close the journey of making menswear for real gentlemen. It was a lifetime experience for us and we wanted to share it with you ladies & gentlemen. Take a look of the photos below and live the Caruso experience yourself.

For more information visit the official Caruso website here or follow them in their official social media accounts.

THE FINE ART OF WATCHMAKING FROM SCHAFFHAUSEN

Ladies & Gentlemen,

Let us introduce you to the world of watchmaking and the IWC universe. A few days ago we had the opportunity to visit Schaffhausen City and to dive deep in the IWC world. IWC is a premium brand in the international luxury watch segment, well known for their top-quality products in haute horlogerie. Located in Schaffhausen city more than 1100 employees, including 120 eminently qualified watchmakers, are involved in the development, manufacture and distribution of perfect mechanical masterpieces.

IWC’s historic headquarters with the newly built extensions and the IWC museum

The company has made its name internationally through a passion for innovative solutions and technical inventiveness. As one of the world’s leading premium brands in the luxury watch segment, IWC creates masterpieces of haute horlogerie, which combine engineering and precision with exclusive design. The reputation of the brand from Schaffhausen is founded not least on the fact that its highly qualified employees master every step of the production process behind in-house movements and complications such as the minute repeater, the tourbillon and the perpetual calendar. For the designers and construction specialists at IWC, the claim to excellence, “Probus Scafusia” – “Craftsmanship made in Schaffhausen”, which was first formulated in 1903, is not only an enormous challenge; it is also their great passion.

Every IWC watch is professionally finished by masters of their trade. For they are the individuals whose trained eyes, nimble fingers and precision instruments put together IWC watches from a collection of single parts: each a fascinating showpiece of meticulous workmanship, functionality and design; each an outstanding example of the art of watchmaking at its very best.

Back in 1993, on the occasion of its 125th anniversary, IWC set up an exclusive museum in the attic of its headquarters – by this time a listed building – and became Switzerland’s first watch manufacturer with such a facility. In 2007, IWC trumped its past achievements with a totally newly designed watch museum on the converted ground floor of the main building. In spaces once given over to the manufacture of cases and watch parts, light-flooded rooms and display cases set off the exhibits to their best advantage. Production has been relocated to more spacious premises directly next door, making room for many more exhibits and a multimedia presentation documenting the company’s history.

The new home of IWC watches represents the world of an international luxury brand: together with the objects on display, it creates surroundings that are at once modern yet timeless, luxurious yet functional, and with every convenience the visitor could possibly wish for.

Over 230 carefully selected items bear witness to a manufacturer that started making a name for itself with unusually reliable quality and unmistakable, universally appealing design from the very beginning.

For IWC, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is all about the contribution they make towards improving society and the environment. They believe that embracing their ecological and social commitment will enable them to make a positive contribution to the well-being of our people, our community and our environment, and is ultimately the best way to guarantee their own long-term success. The company’s operations are therefore based on a holistic approach that combines supreme precision and exclusive design while ensuring the highest standards of sustainable industry practice.

IWC’s watch families – the Pilot’s Watches, Portuguese, Ingenieur, Aquatimer, Da Vinci and Portofino – look back on a long tradition. They attest the innovation of the engineers in Schaffhausen through four generations and embrace the broad range of the company’s watchmaking expertise: from robust watches for everyday use to professional sports watches and the complexities of haute horlogerie at its finest. These are joined by watch specialities such as the Grande Complication and the IWC Vintage Collection.

GDM team admits that visiting the IWC headquarters was a lifetime experience.

Pharrell's Miami Penthouse Is on the Market for $10.9 Million USD

After a couple of years on the market and with many price drops, Pharrell’s Miami penthouse is back on the market. Located at the top of the Bristol Tower in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood, the 9,000-square-foot residence includes everything from an open cathedral-like living room, a second-floor loft space, spiral staircase, library, private screening room, 5,000 square feet of outdoor terraces, and five bedrooms in all. This 1955 Mercedes-Benz Gullwing Racer Is Expected to Fetch $6 Million USD

An extremely rare 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Racer W198 will soon be auctioned at RM Sotheby’s this year, with an expected price tag of around $6,000,000 USD. The car, which paved the way for Gullwing automotive design to modern day, is one of only four ever prepped for racing and testing out of the factory by Mercedes-Benz. The car in question has actually been raced by Sir Stirling Moss, hall-of-fame Formula 1 racer, and placed second at the Tour de France championship. Once decommissioned, the Gullwing Racer was then owned by a single owner for 40 years and thus restored by the owner’s son in 2008 to its present day condition. Currently, the highest valued Gullwing sold, according to Sports Car market, was $4.62 Million in 2012 at the Gooding & Company’s Scottsdale auction, so a $6 million price tag for this racer version is no surprise.

Mazda MX-5 Speedster and MX-5 Spyder Concepts

For car enthusiasts, the answer to any question asked was always “Mazda Miata.” The two-seat roadster’s agility, style and overall drivability was only complemented by the vehicles reliability and generally low price tag. At SEMA 2015, the Hiroshima-based company introduced two new concepts in the form of the MX-5 Spyder and Speedster.

While the Spyder may look like an ordinary drop-top, its the details that really set it apart from the standard MX-5. A vintage silver paint job gives the body some subtle style, while the brown fabric top adds just the right amount of contrast. Throw in beefy 17-inch wheels, a rear occupancy cover made of carbon fiber and an aggressive aerodynamics kit and the MX-5 is no longer just an ordinary roadster.

The Speedster thus is on a whole other level. With no roof or windshield — just a tiny driver-side deflector — the style of the Miata is longer recognizable but stunning nevertheless. An adjustable coilover suspension system throws the car lower to the ground for an improved center of gravity, 16-inch wheels give it easier handling, carbon fiber weight saving and a sexy center mounted exhaust make this the ultimate car for track days and car meet show-offs.

While these are conceptual models with no production date set, keep an eye on Mazda to, as it seems from these two variants, change the roadster game forever.

H&M released the lookbook for its fall guest collaboration with the Parisian house of Balmain. A veritable bastion of French luxury, under the creative directorship of young Olivier Rousteing, Balmain has grown into a global pop-culture phenomenon.

“I want to talk to my generation: this is my main aim as a designer. Lexus Creates a Fully Drivable Cardboard Car

To celebrate the skills of its craftspeople, Lexus has created a full-size, drivable cardboard replica of its IS sedan using 1,700 sheets of precision-cut cardboard. Each 10mm thick, the cardboard sheets had to be glued together by hand in sequence with a water-based wood glue, taking 10 minutes to set every time. The project was carried out by LaserCut Works and Scales and Models using a digital 3D model of the sedan provided by Lexus, and took a total of three months to assemble. The cardboard replica was then mounted atop a steel and aluminum frame with an attached electric motor, thus allowing the car to be driven.
